Race is a socially determined category, so when the different races 'appeared' and what races exist is determined by the society you live in.
In the not too distant past, the Irish were considered a fairly subhuman race by the English (and many Americans). The Nazis considered themselves to be 'Aryan.' While there is no denying that there are physical differences among groups of people, the fact is we are all of the human race and the physical differences are nothing more than adaptations over time to different environmental factors. |
